CALL TO PRESERVE ANNOUNCE FINAL SHOWS & VINYL RELEASE

After eight years, three full-lengths and countless tours all over, Call to Preserve is calling it quits. For the past year or so we’ve done our best to keep functioning as a band despite losing members and having remaining members cut back their involvement. Now all of us are being pulled in different directions and our aspirations for our future have expanded much further than being on tour all the time. With some of us moving away, going back to school or starting careers, we just can’t sacrifice our time to this band like we used to. It would be a disservice to ourselves to do CTP half heartedly, so instead we want to go out on a high note and enjoy our last few months as a band.

We want to do our best to make sure those who want to can come see us for the last time. This April we’ll be playing our last west coast show at Facedown Fest 2011 and in the coming months we’ll be announcing our last tour dates, which will include a stop at Cornerstone Festival. Our last show will be near the end of July this summer in Melbourne, Florida. More details will be announced soon.

In these final months we’ll also be working on a few new songs that will be on a 7” coming out this summer on Facedown Records. We’ve wanted to put out vinyl for years and felt we had a few more things to say before we go, so this seemed like the perfect time and place to put out a 7”.

We never thought that this band would get as far as it did. We never thought we’d have the chance to travel so much and tour with some of our favorite bands and make such amazing friends from all over the world. We are eternally grateful for the chance we were given to play music and actually have people listen. We want to thank Jason Dunn and Facedown Records for standing behind us for the past five years, being some of the easiest people to work with and for just being great friends. We want to thank all the bands we’ve met and toured with who have become some of our best friends and we will miss the shows and the hangouts dearly. Finally we want to thank everyone who has supported us by coming to a show, buying a shirt, letting us sleep on your floor or feeding us. We are more thankful than you’ll ever know.

Hailing from Bangor, Northern Ireland, Rend Collective Experiment released its international debut Organic Family Hymnal to widespread critical acclaim. The band’s success began at home as a movement of 20-somethings that has now begun to spread across Europe to the Americas and beyond. Rhapsody named the band among the Top 5 Christian/Gospel artists to watch in 2011 as Gospel Music Channel named Organic Family Hymnal among the “Best Albums of 2010.” Catching the attention of modern worship icon Chris Tomlin, the band was invited to join him on his 30-city major market “And If Our God Is For Us…” tour that begins Feb. 15 and features Louie Giglio with special guest Christy Nockels. (See itinerary below)

Continue Reading:

The invitation was sparked in part by Tomlin label-mate David Crowder, who added his unmistakable vocals and creativity on the sweeping modern rock textures of the song, “Faithful,” a featured track on Organic Family Hymnal, and especially by Rend Collective Experiment’s highly creative and unusual cover of Chris Tomlin’s “How Great Is Our God.” One of the first bands to record using iPhones solely for instrumentation, more than 292,000 people have viewed this recording:

Charting a unique course, Rend Collective Experiment is a group of friends collectively wondering how to make sense of the conundrum of life, God and community. What Rend Collective Experiment’s members add to the conversation are melodies, harmonic progression and lyrics that are scriptural and contemporary, fresh and ancient. The resulting mix has already gathered endorsements from Dr. Tony Campolo, Francis Chan and David Crowder, and acclaim from Worship Leader, CCM, Indie Vision Music, CBA Retailers + Resources, Crosswalk.com, JesusFreakHideout.com, HollywoodJesus and many more. As critics try to explain the fresh sound they are hearing on Rend Collective Experiment’s Organic Family Hymnal, they draw comparisons to a wide variety of musical icons ranging from Sufjan Stevens and Sigur Ros to Elbow and The Flaming Lips to Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Noah and the Whale, Fleet Foxes, Anathallo and The Glorious Unseen.

“Just when I thought worship was getting a little boring, this group comes along with one of the best efforts of the year,” says Gospel Music Channel. “Love the unorthodox songwriting, instrumentation, and their clever music videos are among some of our favorites this year.” (www.watchgmctv.com)

“Words such as ‘poetic,’ ‘artistic creativity’ and ‘indie inclinations’ can send more traditional worshipers running for cover, but I beg of you stay and hear about this one!” says Foursquare Leader. (www.foursquare.org)

Prior to the tour with Tomlin, Rend Collective Experiment took its modern worship sounds on the road, wrapping up a tour of the UK/Ireland with Francis Chan, and a stint in the US to lead worship with Rob Bell at Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids, MI Nov. 28. The band also played a Nashville showcase event for industry and media last fall at the Hard Rock Café.

Rend Collective Experiment is a nod to the places in Scripture where it says to “rend your hearts” and not your garments, a bold call to be genuine. “We’re a ‘collective’ that is not into the celebrity aspect of the worship scene – a bunch of guys and ladies, a body, an experiment in progress,” explains Rend Collective Experiment member Gareth Gilkeson, helping to underscore why the band’s images do not feature individual faces.

In that ‘collective’ spirit, Rend Collective Experiment recently invited the first 50 people to respond to its newsletter/online invitation to join them for its next video shoot for the song “Come On My Soul,” which opens Organic Family Hymnal. Already known for its creative videos, the new addition was shot Jan. 15 at Castlewellan Castle in Northern Ireland and will be released soon. Other live and concept videos from the band Include: “Faithful” (www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPmxI8XRTkI), “Movements” (www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCYgQWLO8vY), and “You Bled (Jesus Loves Me)” (www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N3h0BKV6gw).

This was recorded during a worship service in Chattanooga, TN on 8/30/09 with Group members: Jason Morales, Ian Owens, Scott Allen, and fill-in tenor Austin Jones.

EHSSQ Updates:

“Hello Friends, Let me introduce to you our new bass vocalist, Ian Owens. Ian is originally from Mississippi and has lived outside of Nashville, TN for some time now. Ian is 30 years old and as you can see has a lovely family. He and his wife Megan have a son named Liam and a daughter named Taylor.

Ian comes from a long line of Gospel quartet bass singers. His grandfather Bid Owens Sr. sang with The Deacon Quartet then his father Butch Owens sang with The Watchmen Quartet, The Anchormen, The Stamps Quartet and The Florida Boys. Before taking this job Ian sang for 10 years with two different groups. He started when he was 19 years old with the Cumberland Boys Quartet out of Branson’s Silver Dollar City theme park.

More recently Armond Morales hired Ian as his replacement to become only the 2nd bass ever in the history of the Imperials. The Imperials started with Jake Hess in 1964 and had one of the smoothest sounds ever. Ian has that George Younce/ Armond Morales feel to his voice. As you will hear, the kid is a singer first and a bass singer second. That is what we were looking for in addition to his love for God and for people. And as that goes, Ian is an licensed minister.

Ian has already traveled one weekend with EHSS and totally won the crowds over in Portland, OR, Seattle, WA and Sacramento, CA with his BIG voice and even BIGGER personality. Please welcome him and come out and hear what we feel is another great find not only for EHSS but for the world of Southern Gospel Music.

Another addition to the EHSS family is Kelly Vaughn. For the past year we have had a three-piece band and Wayne Haun and I have been looking for the right person who could come aboard and give us the acoustic and electric guitar feels we need musically. We took Kelly out for a couple of weeks this past fall and he nailed it.

Kelly was about 6 weeks away from graduating eigth grade….. just kidding. He looks twelve but now has his college degree in Music business and is coming on full time for EHSS. Kelly is 24 and is excited to join the band and the EHSS team. You will love this kid! Thanks so much to all of you for your continued love and support … it means more to us than you’ll ever know…” - Ernie Haase

Haste The Day have announced that they will be calling it quits after their upcoming tour in February and March with MyChildren MyBride, the Chariot and A Plea For Purging. The band made the following statement: “This is a very difficult announcement to make, but Haste The Day will be doing its final tour February – March 2011. It has been an incredible 10 years and we want to thank all of our amazing fans who have stuck with us through all of our changes and growth as a band. If it weren’t for all of you, this band would have been nothing.

There are many reasons why HTD is ending, however we mainly feel as though we have created the best music we can and believe it is now time for us to move on to the next stage of our lives. I remember when this band started a decade ago, we wanted to be like the Solid State/Tooth and Nail Records bands we grew up idolizing. We wanted to use our passion for heavy music and the love that God put in us to be a light in the underground scene; letting people know they are loved, important, forgiven no matter what, and capable of using their gifts to serve their fellow man. I never imagined that we would be able to put out five full length albums, tour the world, and develop so many meaningful relationships with the people who came to our shows. Without your support, this wouldn’t have been possible.”

Hillsong UNITED AFTERMATH North American 2011 Tour

Traversing the world’s continents, Hillsong UNITED announces its return to North America Feb/March 2011 for its AFTERMATH North American Tour. The tour dates will be revealed every half hour today beginning at 5:00 pm EST / 2:00 pm PST. As the tour dates are announced, an event page will go up on Hillsong UNITED’s Facebook, where the band has 1.2 million friends. On this page, fans can RSVP to receive a password to allow them to buy tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

Traversing six continents of the world into 42 nations just since 2006 in a cross-cultural journey, best-selling modern worship band Hillsong UNITED returns to North America February/March 2011 for the 12-city major market “Aftermath” tour. The tour follows the Feb. 15, 2011 release of the band’s highly anticipated, 11th full-length album and second ever studio recording, AFTERMATH, on Sparrow Records. This is the first new recording from the band in the alliance announced last year with EMI Christian Music Group.

The Aftermath tour extends coast-to-gulf-to-coast, hitting Los Angeles (The Greek Theatre), Houston (Berry Center), New York City (Hammerstein Ballroom) and more. Already selling thousands of tickets, the momentum has driven a second event to be added in Boston at the Orpheum Theatre. Last year’s tour opened in Boston with a capacity crowd at The Wang Theatre. The full Hillsong UNITED Aftermath tour itinerary can be found on the band’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/hillsongunited, which has more than 1.4 million friends. (All tour dates are also listed below.)

The band’s 2011 tour builds on recent tours that saw major venues sell out coast-to-coast, from the Nokia Theatre (Los Angeles) to Roseland Ballroom (New York City) to Bank United Centre (Miami) to the largest event ever held as of last April in the Sears Centre Arena (Chicago, IL), which outdrew recent concerts there by such legendary performers as Billy Joel, Elton John and the Eagles.

With more than a decade’s worth of worship favorites, Hillsong UNITED will also play new music from AFTERMATH while on tour, including the first radio single from the album, “Search My Heart.” The song goes to radio Jan. 21 and is a pulsing, urgent cry to be used by God for His – not simply our own – purposes.

Having its pulse consistently in tune with the heart cry of congregations across the globe and a fresh, forward-thinking soundtrack to match, Hillsong UNITED has been the veritable gold standard of modern worship music for the past decade and counting. As Hillsong UNITED’s team of songwriters penned and recorded the tracks for AFTERMATH, the theme of genuine, paradoxical hope in the wake of apparent tragedy emerged in track after track.

“Normally ‘aftermath’ has a negative, even traumatic, connotation,” Hillsong UNITED’s Joel Houston says. “At the same time, when I look at the Crucifixion as an event, it paints an extraordinarily negative and horrific picture. But the aftermath of the Cross is hope for all mankind. It’s grace, freedom, peace, life and everything that is good about God. I absolutely love that picture.”

“Ultimately, through these songs, our upcoming tour – even the album’s packaging – we want to take people on a journey that leaves them feeling empowered to be about what God’s calling us to be about – not out of this sense of burden,” continues Joel.

Fronted by worship leaders Joel Houston, Jad Gillies and Jonathon “JD” Douglass, the UNITED team is also an evolving collaboration of pastors, worship leaders, musicians and songwriters – all intentional about giving voice to a generation passionate about God. Having led worship in churches, stadiums and open fields in Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, the full Hillsong UNITED 2011 Aftermath North American tour itinerary follows:
