Review & Opinions:

“Wow, 2010 has been a great year for fans of The Choir. First we were treated to the band’s all new album “Burning Like The Midnight Sun” and then from out of nowhere comes “de-plumed” which has one song for each of their past 12 albums, redone with stripped down arrangements and acoustic instruments. These reworked versions are absolutely beautiful and truly amazing to listen to. This is a must have for anyone even remotely interested in The Choir (and if you haven’t bought “Burning Like The Midnight Sun”, pick that up as well), you won’t be disappointed. A heart felt thanks to all of the Choir boys for continuing to put out such wonderful music for your fans.” - Bruce

Hillsong UNITED AFTERMATH North American 2011 Tour

Traversing the world’s continents, Hillsong UNITED announces its return to North America Feb/March 2011 for its AFTERMATH North American Tour.  The tour dates will be revealed every half hour today beginning at 5:00 pm EST / 2:00 pm PST.  As the tour dates are announced, an event page will go up on Hillsong UNITED’s Facebook, where the band has 1.2 million friends.  On this page, fans can RSVP to receive a password to allow them to buy tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

Hillsong UNITED AFTERMATH North American 2011 Tour

Traversing six continents of the world into 42 nations just since 2006 in a cross-cultural journey, best-selling modern worship band Hillsong UNITED returns to North America February/March 2011 for the 12-city major market “Aftermath” tour.  The tour follows the Feb. 15, 2011 release of the band’s highly anticipated, 11th full-length album and second ever studio recording, AFTERMATH, on Sparrow Records.  This is the first new recording from the band in the alliance announced last year with EMI Christian Music Group.

The Aftermath tour extends coast-to-gulf-to-coast, hitting Los Angeles (The Greek Theatre), Houston (Berry Center), New York City (Hammerstein Ballroom) and more.  Already selling thousands of tickets, the momentum has driven a second event to be added in Boston at the Orpheum Theatre.  Last year’s tour opened in Boston with a capacity crowd at The Wang Theatre.  The full Hillsong UNITED Aftermath tour itinerary can be found on the band’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/hillsongunited, which has more than 1.4 million friends. (All tour dates are also listed below.)

The band’s 2011 tour builds on recent tours that saw major venues sell out coast-to-coast, from the Nokia Theatre (Los Angeles) to Roseland Ballroom (New York City) to Bank United Centre (Miami) to the largest event ever held as of last April in the Sears Centre Arena (Chicago, IL), which outdrew recent concerts there by such legendary performers as Billy Joel, Elton John and the Eagles.

With more than a decade’s worth of worship favorites, Hillsong UNITED will also play new music from AFTERMATH while on tour, including the first radio single from the album, “Search My Heart.” The song goes to radio Jan. 21 and is a pulsing, urgent cry to be used by God for His – not simply our own – purposes.

Having its pulse consistently in tune with the heart cry of congregations across the globe and a fresh, forward-thinking soundtrack to match, Hillsong UNITED has been the veritable gold standard of modern worship music for the past decade and counting. As Hillsong UNITED’s team of songwriters penned and recorded the tracks for AFTERMATH, the theme of genuine, paradoxical hope in the wake of apparent tragedy emerged in track after track.

“Normally ‘aftermath’ has a negative, even traumatic, connotation,” Hillsong UNITED’s Joel Houston says. “At the same time, when I look at the Crucifixion as an event, it paints an extraordinarily negative and horrific picture. But the aftermath of the Cross is hope for all mankind. It’s grace, freedom, peace, life and everything that is good about God.  I absolutely love that picture.”

“Ultimately, through these songs, our upcoming tour – even the album’s packaging – we want to take people on a journey that leaves them feeling empowered to be about what God’s calling us to be about – not out of this sense of burden,” continues Joel.

Fronted by worship leaders Joel Houston, Jad Gillies and Jonathon “JD” Douglass, the UNITED team is also an evolving collaboration of pastors, worship leaders, musicians and songwriters – all intentional about giving voice to a generation passionate about God. Having led worship in churches, stadiums and open fields in Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, the full Hillsong UNITED 2011 Aftermath North American tour itinerary follows:

The Canvas Waiting – Chasing Color (2010)

The Canvas Waiting - Chasing Color (2010)

Artist: The Canvas Waiting
Album: Chasing Color
Release Date: November 30th, 2010
Style: Indie / Alternative-Rock
Label: Independent / Unsigned
Location: Austin, Texas

Members: Nathan Medina, Josh Rodgers, Colin Campbell, Chris Applegate

About:

Having mastered the strikingly rare ability to craft genuine yet substantial music, The Canvas Waiting has garnered a host of loyal fans since their formation in 2005. With their first release, In Search of Beginnings, the passion and talent of singer Nathan Medina was undeniable and captivated audiences both on the album and through his convincing live performances. With the addition of Josh Rodgers on drums, Colin Campbell on guitar, and Chris Applegate on bass, the group’s sound has matured into a collection of reflective and unforgettable melodies rooted in intelligent songwriting.

Members: Nathan Medina, Josh Rodgers, Colin Campbell, Chris Applegate

For fans, The Canvas Waiting’s lyrics and themes, both deeply personal and universal, are the backbones of what separate their music from the current industry standard. Their second release in March of 2009, A Seasons Change, more than met these high expectations, giving listeners a platform to contemplate loss and growth. With this album’s unforgettable guitar riffs and driving sound, they were able to expand to reach a much broader audience than their Texas home.

The concept and music for their newest release, Chasing Color, began taking shape over a year ago and represents the band’s observations and experiences during that time. Beginning in March of this year, the album began to truly solidify with the help of Grammy-winning producer Stephen Short (Augustana, Camera Can’t Lie). After months of refining and honing the message of each song, the band spent a week with Short at Sonic Ranch Studios in West Texas. Upon returning home, they enlisted the help of Austin-based producer CJ Eiriksson (U2, Matchbox 20, Blue October) to co-produce and mix the record.

Members: Nathan Medina, Josh Rodgers, Colin Campbell, Chris Applegate

If A Seasons Change set the standard of intensity and depth that this band is capable of achieving, Chasing Color certainly surpasses that. With rich layers and intricate melodies, they have mastered the art of creating something that sounds both immense and accessible, giving listeners the sense that they are experiencing rather than just listening. This album is a truly relatable testament to the human condition, tackling elements of being together, being apart, and the search for joy in an imperfect world.

Members: Nathan Medina, Josh Rodgers, Colin Campbell, Chris Applegate
