Artist: One Republic
Album: Waking Up
Release Date: November 17, 2009

Early career:
The band was formed in 2002 by songwriter and record producer, Ryan Tedder and his high school friend, Zach Filkins, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The initial name of the band was Republic.

Tedder caught the attention of producer Timbaland during his stint in an MTV-sponsored talent show and was soon signed as his protegé. Tedder and Filkins parted ways after two years under Timbaland’s tutelage. For a while, Tedder worked under the nom de plume ‘Alias‘, earning a name for himself by producing and writing songs for various artists; receiving a Grammy nomination for his work on Paul Oakenfold’s, A Lively Mind.

In 2002, Tedder reconnected with Filkins who was living in Chicago, Illinois and modeling on the side for Covington and Jockey Underwear convincing Filkins to move to Los Angeles, California to form a band. Nine months later they were quickly signed to Columbia Records. After a few line-up changes, they finally solidified with Tedder on vocals, Filkins on guitar and backing vocals, Eddie Fisher on drums, Brent Kutzle on bass and cello, and Drew Brown on guitar. They later changed the band name to OneRepublic after their record company mentioned that the name Republic might cause controversy with other bands.

Trading Yesterday – More Than This (2006)

Posted by Matthew On November - 30 - 20091 COMMENT
Artist: Trading Yesterday
Album: More Than This
Style: Alternative, Acoustic, Pop-Rock
David Hodges was asked to join Evanescence in late 1999 and co-wrote many of the songs on their Origin demo CD and their debut album, Fallen. He decided to leave in December 2002 because he thought that he was leading the band into a more Christian rock scene than Ben Moody and Amy Lee were comfortable with and was no longer in the group when the controversy in April 2003 surrounding the band’s Christian labeling emerged. Lee and Moody announced in no uncertain terms that the band was not associated with the Christian rock scene.
The Age of Information is an American pop rock band originally formed in 2003 by David Hodges and Mark Colbert under the name Trading Yesterday, and later joined by Steven McMorran. In 2004, Trading Yesterday released a demo CD titled The Beauty and the Tragedy, and after signing with Epic Records later that year, they released their first single, “One Day”, in the summer of 2005. They later left Epic and as of 2007 remain independent. Due to this, their full length album debut, to be titled More Than This, was shelved and was never officially released.
The band has since changed its name to The Age of Information and is currently working on an album after releasing an EP entitled Everything is Broken in September 2007.
